David has been the host of Lions TV Bingo for a decade.
David is a retired High School Chemistry teacher, having taught at John F. Ross in Guelph and Centre Wellington in Fergus. His interest in trivia is a direct reflection of his teaching career. “Kids would ask me the darndest questions, sometimes, so I started keeping a list of the answers – it has grown into a considerable tome”.
Born in London Ontario, David began performing at an early age. He was a child soloist at a variety of school, church and amateur productions. He continued his studies in music as a private student through his teaching years and has now been a part of over 40 musicals as a lead and choruster throughout Southern Ontario. Although he does not do many musicals any more, he may do a dozen concerts a month as a soloist. David is now more heavily involved as a stage actor in plays throughout the region.
David’s major passion, aside from his wife, Lois, and his four grown children, is bird banding. Up before dawn and out in the field, most days of the year, David has banded over 100 000 birds of 175 species. His research has lead to many contacts throughout the world with other ornithologists who readily share their data and techniques.
David genuinely enjoys people and finds that hosting TV Bingo offers an opportunity to get to know people that are not connected to his teaching, singing, acting or bird-banding careers.
