National Volunteer Week 2009

National Volunteer Week is a special time set aside in April to honour the vital contribution volunteers make to our communities. We’ve all seen Rogers TV’s award winning programs - but the real stars at Rogers TV are its volunteers. For nearly four decades from across Ontario and throughout Newfoundland and New Brunswick, their spirit and commitment - in front of the camera and behind the scenes - have made Rogers TV what it is today. Volunteers form the nucleus of Rogers TV; they are integral to the production and success of our station. Through the help of over 180 talented volunteers, Rogers TV, Durham Region succeeds in producing timely, relevant programming for our community each day.

During National Volunteer Week, April 19th to April 25th, Rogers TV pays special tribute to our volunteers who give of themselves to better our community. Thank you to all our volunteers. We salute you!

Throughout the week we'll have freshly popped popcorn, and freshly spun cotton candy courtesty of Snack Foods. Come by for a handful or a bagful and top with your favourite seasoning. As well, KMK Events and Catering will be providing fresh, baked goods all week long for our volunteers.  Iced Cream Cakes and treats will be provided for all crews, compliments of Marble Slab Creamery.

From Monday to Friday, we'll be doing a DAILY DRAW. Just by being a volunteer with RTV, your name is automatically put into a hat. Winners will be notified by email, as well as posted on our website by 4pm daily.

All week long, local programming will feature volunteer organizations and the importance of volunteerism in our region.
