Theodore Heintzman

Show # 3 - 2006 Season

In the mid-19th century, a German immigrant settled in Toronto. His name was Theodore Heintzman and he had a tremendous skill for making pianos.
By the late 1800’s, Heintzman was firmly established as one of Canada’s top industrialists. The Heintzman company had branches across the country and the pianos were locally made until the 1980’s. Today, Heintzman pianos are made in China. The memory of this company and its founder is kept alive in Heintzman Street, a short street that once led to the factory in the West Toronto Junction neighbourhood.
