The Medicine Hat Police service wants to reassure the public any information suggesting a threat is taken seriously. Before participating in a hoax, prank, or viral trend, the police service asks members of the public to think about how that post would look to someone who doesn’t know you’re joking. If the police cannot distinguish your “joke” from a genuine threat, the consequences can become very real very quickly.
