YWCA 'Voices of Resilience' Program Builds Understanding About Global Displacement in Prince Albert
Behind many new faces in Prince Albert are years of displacement, uncertainty, and life in refugee camps. Through its Voices of Resilience initiative, YWCA Settlement Services is working to build understanding in the community by helping residents learn about the realities people face before resettlement.
The hands-on program shares lived experiences of displacement while creating opportunities for learning and dialogue. For newcomers like Fabiola Nyikiza, those experiences are not distant stories, but part of everyday life. The initiative is also reaching local students, giving them a chance to connect global issues to their own community through direct learning and conversation.
YWCA Settlement Services says building understanding is an important step in helping newcomers feel safe and supported as they settle in Prince Albert. Community members interested in supporting this work can learn more through YWCA Settlement Services by getting involved, volunteering, or supporting newcomer programs.
