City of Thunder Bay Offers Accessibility Option for Garbage Collection

Thunder Bay has expanded its automated garbage cart program to all single-family homes, and for residents who can’t physically move their carts to the curb, the city is now offering a walk-up/set-out service.

The program is designed for seniors, people with mobility challenges, and anyone who has no one in their household or support services who can bring the cart out on collection day. Residents must fill out a form and provide a note from a regulated medical professional to qualify. Once approved, city staff will collect the cart from a designated spot on the property and return it after pickup.

This service applies to garbage carts only. For recycling assistance, residents must contact GFL Environmental directly.
