Grand Forks Physician Recruitment Pilot Proves Successful
The goal of having all Grand Forks citizens attached to a family physician is being realized, thanks to the physician recruitment pilot launched last year. The municipality of Grand Forks, along with the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary, have taken over the fixed overhead costs, freeing up physicians to focus on the work with patients rather than shouldering the financial requirements attached to keeping clinic doors open. Under the pilot program, the Grand Forks Medical Clinic has recruited two doctors and a nurse practitioner, with a fourth doctor looking to sign on for early 2027.
