In Focus: My Christian Island

Christian Island, located on the Southern tip of Georgian Bay, is home to the Beausoleil First Nation.

In Focus: My Christian Island is a celebration of the culture and a historical reflection of the island and its people. Residents share their stories of loss, of resilience and of their quest to retain their identity. Former Chief Rodney Monague reflects on his youth and his experiences. We’ll hear firsthand about the challenges facing residents and youth of today and their hopes for tomorrow. Island resident Randy King shows us how preserving past traditions celebrates First Nation culture, bringing much pride to the Island’s people.

Rogers tv Producer Steve McEown explains: “My experiences on the Island gave me a new understanding of community. It is the history, the culture and most importantly the people of a place that make it a community. Christian Island is rich in all three and growing stronger with each generation.”
