Sault Ste. Marie Lights Up with Vivid ArtFest & Bushplane Days 2025
It was a weekend to remember in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, as two major community celebrations filled the city with colour, creativity, and history.
Vivid Arts • Culture • Media Festival ran September 19–21, transforming downtown with live mural painting, cultural performances, artisan markets, and interactive workshops. From the Mosaic Market to public art walking tours and a headline concert by My Son The Hurricane at the Roberta Bondar Pavilion, the festival brought people together through art, music, and storytelling. Families and visitors also took part in hands-on activities, film screenings, and creative sessions that showcased the city’s vibrant cultural scene.
Meanwhile, aviation fans flocked to the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre for the annual Bushplane Days. The event offered families a chance to climb aboard historic aircraft, enjoy flight simulators and science experiments, and learn about the bushplane’s role in firefighting and Northern aviation history. With pilots, volunteers, and interactive displays, the hangar buzzed with excitement for kids and adults alike.
Together, Vivid Arts Fest and Bushplane Days showed off the best of Sault Ste. Marie — a city where heritage, creativity, and community spirit take flight.
