(Dé)collage - Celebrating 50 Years: Shaping the Future Together
50 ans de fierté! Ensemble pour demain / Celebrating 50 Years! Shaping the Future Together is a large-scale artistic and community initiative launched to mark the 50th anniversary of the Franco-Ontarian flag, first raised on September 25, 1975. In Sault Ste. Marie, Galerie Sans Clous’ community collage project “Décollage” – was one of 17 projects selected across the province to represent Ontario’s diverse Francophone regions and communities. The project helped bring Sault Ste. Marie’s francophone community together—while giving it a voice across the province. Over the course of a month, more than 30 people came together, creating art, sharing stories, and importantly, speaking French. With the work now part of a province-wide collection, this local project is helping ensure francophone voices in Sault Ste. Marie are not only heard, but celebrated.
Selected projects will be wrapping up in June and showcasing of the projects will take place at a later phase of the initiative. For more information on this initiative you could visit franco50.ca
