PUC Urges Eligible Residents to Apply for Free Home Energy Upgrades
Many households across Ontario are now eligible for free home energy upgrades designed to reduce electricity use, improve comfort, and help manage rising energy costs. Through programs such as the Energy Affordability Program (EAP), the Home Winterproofing Program (HWP), and the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program (OHPA), qualifying residents can receive a wide range of no-cost improvements delivered by trained energy-efficiency experts.
These programs are supported by Save on Energy, Enbridge Gas, Natural Resources Canada, and PUC Services Inc. CLEAResult Canada serves as the program delivery agent for the region.
Depending on eligibility, upgrades may include LED light bulbs, smart power bars, smart thermostats, and energy-efficient appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, and dehumidifiers. Many homes may also qualify for insulation improvements, draft proofing, and other measures that help maintain indoor comfort during colder months. Electrically heated homes may be eligible for heat pumps, and oil-heated homes have a limited-time opportunity to replace their oil systems with high-efficiency electric heat pumps at no cost through the OHPA program.
Eligibility is based on household income, the number of people living in the home, and participation in certain government assistance programs. A single application through CLEAResult is used to determine which programs a household qualifies for, making the process simpler and more accessible.
Residents can contact CLEAResult Canada at 1-844-770-3148 to learn more about the programs, confirm eligibility, or schedule an in-home assessment. Additional information about energy conservation and efficiency programs is available on the PUC Services website.
