Sault Ste. Marie Launches New Major Francophone Festival
The first Festival Rendez-vous des cultures francophones is bringing a new cultural energy to Sault Ste. Marie, turning the city and St. Joseph Island into a meeting place for francophone traditions from across the world.
Running March 20th to 22nd, the event highlights Métis heritage, French-Canadian roots, and international francophone influences through a full weekend of music, food, workshops, and community gatherings.
The festival opens with a lively kitchen party at the Algoma Conservatory, featuring musicians and dancers who set the tone for three days of celebration.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can take part in hands-on workshops, artisan demonstrations, family activities, and performances that range from traditional fiddle and step dancing to African drumming and storytelling.
The programming is built around three themes: music and rhythms, gastronomy and culinary innovation, and arts and creative creation, offering something for every age and background.
Organized by the Centre francophone de Sault-Ste-Marie, the festival is designed to welcome everyone, whether they speak French or not.
